[ Training ]

The foundation of TransCor’s operation is the safe, secure and reliable transportation of prisoners. To ensure that this is achieved on each and every transport, all TransCor extradition specialists are required to complete the most rigorous and comprehensive training program in the industry.

TransCor is the only private prisoner extradition company to maintain a comprehensive pre-service and in-service training program. All extradition specialists must successfully complete our 100-plus hour Basic Agent Initial Training Program and successfully pass the final exam given at the end of the course. All trainees are certified in First Aid, CPR, blood and airborne pathogens, firearms, and use of force during their basic training.

Following initial training, each agent completes two trips under the supervision of specially trained senior personnel. This on-the-job training continues the practical application of the information presented during basic agent training. If a negative report is received on either trip, the new agent is assigned to a third trip with a different senior agent for evaluation. If the problem persists on the third trip, the agent is terminated.

In addition to initial training, TransCor requires its extradition agents to successfully complete 40 hours of annual in-service training in order to continue their employment.

Training programs cover a variety of subjects including:

  • sexual harassment
  • ethics
  • professionalism
  • prisoner transportation
  • map reading
  • use of force
  • interpersonal communications skills
  • prisoner rights
  • certification courses – such as American Red Cross CPR and First Aid, National Rifle Association Certified Shotgun Course, National Safety Counsel Certified Driving Training. Extradition agents receive certificates of these accomplishments after successful completion of the training program.

As an added bonus during the training program, a number of expert instructors are brought in to share their individual knowledge and experience with each class.

The initial training is conducted at TransCor’s headquarters in Nashville, Tennessee; however, the in-service training is held locally at each of TransCor's satellite locations.
