[ The Grip Restraint System ]

Prisoners are restrained with standard restraining devices including handcuffs, leg irons, waist chains and black boxes. Agents are trained on the correct usage of The Grip restraint system, which is also utilized on TransCor transports. All prisoners are interconnected to each other in pairs for additional security.

The Grip restraint system creates a new standard in restraint technologies by combining an encapsulated lock with a material that reduces injuries caused by traditional metallic cuffs. The overall design of The Grip creates a more humane restraint system in both performance and appearance. Additional information about The Grip can be found on www.thegriprestraint.com.

Advantages of The Grip include:

  • The Grip does not require double locking, as do traditional handcuffs. Simply close the buckle and it is secure.
  • The Grip uses two independent locking bars, which reduce the possibility of compromising the lock.
  • The Grip uses a flexible material that reduces metal skin contact while at the same time conforming to any size wrist. The same material creates a lower profile, more humane restraint.
  • The Grip is manufactured from stainless steel and a flexible, washable material. The Grip can be sterilized without rusting or corroding.
