in the Interstate Transportation of Dangerous Criminals Act of 2000,

- Background checks and drug testing for
employees,
- Employee training,
- Employee duty hours,
- Staff/inmate ratio,
- Employee uniforms and identification,
- Prisoner uniforms,
- Prisoner restraints,
- Communication with local law enforcement,
and
- Standards to ensure safety of
prisoners during transport:
- Vehicle maintenance and safety
- Vehicle/employee communication equipment
- Policies, procedures and practice requiring:
- First Aid kits;
- CPR and emergency first response
trained personnel;
- Prohibition of mistreatment
of prisoners;
- Separation of juveniles from
adults;
- Separation of females and males;
- Female staff supervision of
female prisoners;
- Staff certification in use of
firearms and restraints;
- Staff certification in sexual
harassment prevention;
- Meal and restroom breaks;
- Proper heating and ventilation
of vehicles;
- Climate-appropriate prisoner
uniforms; and
- Prohibition of use of tobacco
products in the vehicles
