Facts about TransCor
TransCor is the largest third-party prisoner extradition
company in the United States. We provide nationwide coverage, inclusive
of all 50 states and Puerto Rico, to over 2,000 local, state and
federal agencies. From 1999 to 2002, more than 190,000 prisoners
were moved through our nationwide ground system. An additional 28,500
were moved via mass move during the same time period.
TransCor, the company
- Founded in 1990 in Tennessee. Became
a wholly owned subsidiary of Corrections Corporation of America
in 1995.
- Acquired Tri-County Extradition, Inc.,
the premier prisoner transportation company in California, on
December 31, 2002 as a wholly owned subsidiary.
- In 2002, we safely transported 35,000
prisoners for over 1,200 law enforcement and corrections agencies
on the local, state and federal levels. This includes most state
departments of corrections.
- Nationwide, we employ more than 300
transportation professionals.
- Only company to employ a full-time training
director, enabling us to constantly recruit new staff and provide
ongoing training and staff development opportunities for staff.
- Our comprehensive training program includes
more than 100 hours of basic agent training and 40 hours of annual
re-certification.
- Largest vehicle fleet in the industry,
which includes more than 90 vehicles. The fleet includes vans,
mini-bus transporters and buses. TransCor also maintains three
wheelchair accessible vans to accommodate the transport of special
needs prisoners.
- Each vehicle is equipped with a global
positioning system. This system allows us to track each and every
vehicle anywhere in the United States to within one-tenth of a
mile of its current position. In addition, each vehicle is equipped
with a computer keyboard also tied in to the system, which allows
our headquarters real time communication with agents in the field.

- We are the only company in the industry
with the size to perform mass moves. In fact in 2002, TransCor
successfully completed the nation’s largest single mass
move, which entailed moving 795 prisoners, within 26 hours, between
facilities located in Arizona, Oklahoma and Tennessee.
- We operate 24 hours a day, seven days
a week, 365 days a year.
- We don’t require a contract for
you to work with us. You can use us for one move or you can use

- Registered nurses on staff help screen
prisoners before they enter our ground network, and then monitor
their process through the system. Should a medical situation arise
during the transport, these special needs coordinators help keep
TransCor and the customer agency informed of what is going on.
Setting the Standard
- We are the first private extradition
company to comply with the Interstate Transportation of Dangerous
Criminals Act of 2000.
- We are also the first company in the
